This last week my husband and I went to Austin, TX for his birthday and to visit family. While there I got to break away and go to a wonderful yarn store. If you are ever in the north end of Austin check it out. Gauge, a modern knit shop is an adorable shop with very helpful ladies behind the counter and OMG beautiful yarns.
There wasn’t anything for spinning but that is fine it is an eclectic hobby any way. But in their back room they had a section for bulky yarns, and they were what I would call professional art yarns. Like Crepe yarns with bold colors and Spiral Boucle Yarns. Real artisan yarns nothing even close could be found at Joann Fabrics.
I chatted with a lady a bit and she helped me find some circular knitting needles. I had brought a knitting project only to find out the needles were too big and then eventually found out the pattern was a nightmare, but I found a better one fast. For the pattern I brought in she offered me some tips about changing circular needles during a project. The original pattern had me changing needles three times and she recommended just knitting onto the new needles, instead of slipping all of the loops off one needle set and onto the next.
The store is an excellent stop if you are in Austin, I especially enjoyed their artistic dress form at the front door.
I’m still getting used to chatting in yarn stores, I’m a bit of an introvert. Hopefully, one of these times I will get better pictures.
